Week 1 Workbook: The Essence of Childlike Faith

Welcome to Week 1 of our new devotional series, "Childlike Faith: The Strength Needed to Sustain." In this series, we will explore the profound wisdom found in the simplicity and trust of childlike faith. Let's begin our journey by delving into the essence of childlike faith and its significance in our relationship with God.

Trusting in the Father's Love

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:3 (NLT)

Reflection:

Reflect on the unconditional trust children have in their parents and how it mirrors our relationship with God as our Heavenly Father. Just as children trust their parents without reservation, we are called to trust in God's love and provision with childlike faith. This trust forms the foundation of our relationship with God, enabling us to surrender our worries and fears into His loving care.

Embracing Humility

"Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:4 (NLT)

Reflection:

Explore the humility of children and how it opens their hearts to receive God's love and grace without pretense or pride. Children approach life with a sense of humility, acknowledging their need for guidance and support. Similarly, we are called to humble ourselves before God, recognizing our dependence on Him for everything.

Living in Wonder and Curiosity

"At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: 'O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.'" - Matthew 11:25 (NLT)

Reflection:

Cultivate a sense of wonder and curiosity in your faith journey, trusting that God reveals Himself to those who approach Him with childlike hearts. Children possess a natural curiosity about the world around them, eagerly seeking to learn and discover new things. Similarly, we are invited to approach God with a childlike sense of wonder, eager to explore the depths of His love and wisdom.

Seeking Dependence on God

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding." - Proverbs 3:5 (NLT)

Reflection:

Reflect on the importance of depending on God rather than relying solely on our own understanding and strength. Children rely on their parents for guidance and provision, trusting in their care and wisdom. Likewise, we are called to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, acknowledging His sovereignty and seeking His guidance in all areas of our lives.

 Receiving the Kingdom of God

"Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children." - Mark 10:14 (NLT)

Reflection:

Embrace the invitation to approach God with childlike faith, knowing that His kingdom is open to all who come to Him with simplicity and trust. Children have an innate sense of trust and openness, eagerly embracing the love and acceptance of those around them. Similarly, we are called to approach God with childlike faith, trusting in His love and receiving His kingdom with open hearts.

As we embark on this journey of exploring childlike faith, may we be inspired to cultivate a deeper trust in our Heavenly Father, embrace humility, live with wonder and curiosity, seek dependence on God, and receive His kingdom with childlike hearts. Let's open our hearts to the transformative power of childlike faith as we dive into Week 1 of our devotional series.
